About Dr. Kim

Dr. Rachel Kim brings a rare combination of academic rigor and practical financial planning expertise to the Cover Forge USA editorial team. As a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), she has spent over a decade at the intersection of life insurance, retirement planning, and consumer financial education.

Before entering practice as a financial planning advisor, Dr. Kim served as a financial literacy researcher at a major university, where she studied how Americans make insurance and retirement decisions — and where behavioral biases lead them to make costly mistakes. That academic background deeply informs her writing: she understands not just the technical details of insurance products, but the psychological and educational barriers that prevent consumers from making optimal choices.

Dr. Kim is the primary author of our life insurance content. Her guides cover everything from the basics of term vs. whole life to the complex mechanics of Indexed Universal Life (IUL) policies. She is one of the few consumer-facing writers who can explain IUL caps, floors, and participation rates in language that everyday consumers can understand and act on.

In addition to life insurance, Dr. Kim writes about Medicare Supplement plans. Her comparison of Medigap Plan G vs. Plan N is the definitive guide for seniors trying to navigate the complex landscape of Medicare supplemental coverage. She believes strongly that Medicare education is among the most impactful financial literacy work that can be done for the 65+ population.

Dr. Kim also reviews content related to pet insurance, applying her financial planning framework to help readers evaluate whether pet insurance makes economic sense for their situation.
